Where did we come from...
The Scottsdale Chapter was chartered on July 20, 1964, and 42 secretaries became charter members.
An interesting trivia fact about our Chapter: When our chapter was being formed, in addition to the secretaries joining, many of the wives of the secretaries' bosses also became members. This was their way to show their support to our organization.
Over the years, IAAP® has seen many changes, namely in its' name. In 1942, we were first known as National Secretaries Association (NSA) and the first NSA chapter was formed in Topeka, Kansas. In 1982, the name was changed to Professional Secretaries International (PSI) to reflect our growth on an international level. In August 1998, PSI members voted once again to change its' name to International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) to reflect more of the job titles being used today. As you can see, IAAP is a progressive and ever-changing organization.
